- d’enseignants et de volontaires pour travailler avec des enfants de 10-12h tous  les vendredis;

- de matériel et de fourniture pour la classe : papier, ciseaux;

- d’une personne pour préparer le repas pour environ 10 enfants une ou deux fois par mois;

 ENGLISH VERSION—

 Friday school – every Friday from 10-12 near Metro Novoslobodskaya

 We need your help and solidarity:

- French speaking teachers / volunteers to work with the kids from 10-12h;

- material: paper, scissors, pens, CD player;

- someone to prepare lunch for 10 children once or twice a month and bring it to the centre at 11.45;

- a volunteer to pick up the older children from the metro station Komsomolskaya and bring them to the school.

URGENT: We have a need for a coordinator for Friday mornings and lunch (you need to be able to speak in French, English and a little Russian).

 A typical school day:

10-12h school in French;

12-13h lunch;

13-16h school in Russian.

What do we do?

We work with the children of refugees, aged 3-14, who are not allowed to go to Russian school. Most of the children have not been to a school before.

The older children are taught by a French teacher how to read, write, do maths and listen to songs and stories from their native countries.  It is difficult to work in a group with the younger children, so we really need the volunteers to be able to work in smaller groups.

The goal is to get the parents to bring the children to the centre so they can socialise, sing songs together, play with other children, learn how to concentrate while listening to a book, completing work sheets, undertaking fun craft activities and, step by step, learn how to read and write in French.

In the afternoons the children are taught in Russian by Russian volunteers, but it is important, that the children have French school in the morning to speak in their mother tongue and learn about their roots.
