Cold Plunge 2015

Dear Cold Plungers,

That time of year is almost upon us once more, when our Festive Season excesses come in handy – both to insulate us from the cold and to remind us how fortunate we are.

On February 14, 2015, the annual Auski Cold Plunge for the Homeless will see expats and locals immerse themselves in the frigid waters of Serebryanny Bor, in an effort to raise money for those less fortunate in this most unforgiving of climates. A little later than usual, but what more romantic a way could there be to spend Valentine’s Day?!

Entry fee of 2,500 rubles gets you in the water, but don’t stop there! Inspire your friends toplunge with you, or at least shame them into sponsoring you! Despite the -13C temps this year, we still managed to raise a whopping 460,000 rubles. The bar has been set high!

Your donations, kindly administered by the International Women’s Club (IWC) on our behalf, go directly to people in need. From thermal underwear and socks to assistance with official documents, and sometimes a ticket home, the Cold Plunge for the Homeless makes a real difference!

So save the date, tell a mate and feel great about contributing to the society in which you find yourself.

We need:

  • Sponsors to help us really help the homeless – if you know anyone who can help out in return for some publicity, please put them in touch with us
  • Teams of plungers: See how much you can raise against competing teams; establish rivalries between schools or firms that will leave a legacy for others to aspire to
  • Volunteers to act as stewards for plungers, give directions at transport hubs and other assorted tasks
  • Transport: If you or your organisation can provide a bus or minibus and driver, please let us know

As anyone who’s plunged will tell you, it’s an experience you’ll never forget, and one you should really take advantage of while you’re here.
