WELCOME TO THE IWC CHARITY GROUP

The IWC Charities Group is an integral and vital part of the IWC. It is made up of a fun and dedicated group of volunteers from the IWC and has as its aim the management of charities sponsored by the IWC.

MISSION STATEMENT

The IWC Charities Group is run by members from many different countries who want to work together to reach out to people in this country and make the difference. The purpose is to ensure that the IWC Charities Group is able to help those who need it. As the IWC Charities Group is run by volunteers, there are no administrative costs included, so all donations go directly to those in need.

As a women’s organization we have decided to focus our primary attention on children. We have based this decision on the fact that children represent a society’s future, thus providing an opportunity to invest for the longer term and that in many cases intervention can be life-changing – for the child, for the family and beyond.

WHAT DO WE SUPPORT?

The IWC Charities Group mainly focuses on charity projects that can be broadly divided into the following categories:

  • children in poor or unstable families
  • children in orphanages or other institutions
  • children with medical needs

A third of our funds go to the elderly and destitute (pensioners, homeless etc). Separately, the IWC Charities Group also runs the Donations Office, which collects and redistributes items to various charities. To learn more about Donations Office click here.

Donation office

The IWC Donations Office collects unwanted items and passes them on to the charity supported projects. We can use anything and everything as long as it’s clean, in good condition and full working order (except video tapes). We even take dried and canned food.

If you have larger items to donate, such as furniture or big domestic appliances, please send us an e-mail with a photograph of the item. Unfortunately, we don’t have space to store oversize items, but we will do our best to put you in direct contact with a project that needs your donation.

Donations are accepted on Mondays between 11.00 – 13.00

The Donations Office will be closed on Monday December 1, 2014. The donors are welcome again on December 8 and 15, 2014. We will be happy to see you again after holidays on January 19th, 2015.

The Donation Office is situated near metro Belorusskaya, at Gruzinsky Pereulok dom 3, apartment 1A (button 2 on the domophone). The entrance to the block is at the rear, from Sred. Kindrat’evskiy Pereulok. Click here for a map.
You can call us on 8-916-410-1366 (Mondays 11.00 -13.00, Tuesdays 10.00 – 12.00) or send us e-mail at

HOW DOES IT WORK?

IWC Charities Board meets once per month, to discuss charity matters, receive and distribute funds and discuss any issues that may have arisen over that month. Each member of the Board has an assigned role. Some roles are administrative (Treasury Officer, Administration Officer, PR Officer, etc.) and some roles are linked directly to charity projects.

Next to the Board members we have also Project Coordinators, who are in close contact with specified charities. Project Coordinators make monthly visits to the projects to distribute funds, collect receipts and discuss how the project is going. We also have volunteers who are actively helping at the projects and therefore they are very important part of the IWC Charities Group.

The IWC
Charities General meetings are organized by the IWC Charities Board 2-3 times per club year. The aim of these meetings is to give newcomers an opportunity to find out more about charity projects. It also provides an opportunity for networking and information sharing among and between Lead Coordinators, Project Coordinators, volunteers, potential volunteers and project representatives.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HELPING?

You can contribute your time as it best suits you. We have many different roles within the IWC Charities Group. It can take less than 4 hours a month, up to 10 hours (or more) a week from your time. There is no need to speak Russian, but a little knowledge is a big advantage.
